Youth Acting in Rural Europe
What is it?
Youth Acting in Rural Europe is a European project directed to young people. It revolves around the themes of youth entrepreneurship, social initiative and exchange of cultural and natural heritage, as pillars of rural local development and construction of a common European identity. The project is co-financed by the ERASMUS+ 2014-2020 Programme (Youth in Action) and its main objective is to improve the young participants’ skills related to these topics, through non-formal learning.
What is it about?
The project consists in a youth exchange that will take place in Vimianzo (Galicia, Spain) during 8 days of activities, from June 28th to July 5th, 2015. 30 young people and 6 group leaders from 6 EU countries (Portugal, Ireland, France, Italy, Slovakia and Spain) will take part in it.
Objectives
The specific objectives of the project are:
- promoting and implementing pre-employment skills such as entrepreneurship, creativity, teamwork, communication, negotiation...
- encouraging the participation of youth in actions of social stimulation and those regarding heritage and traditions of local life
- boosting the common sense of belonging to the EU
- raising awareness of youth regarding values such as solidarity, friendship, democracy, cooperation and empathy
- acquiring knowledge about other cultural realities, and skills and attitudes that will allow the young people to carry out a positive cultural intercommunication towards multicultural coexistence and enriching cultural exchange assets;
- raising awareness regarding the need to acquire healthy habits of leisure time related to the positive participation in the environmental community and to the practice of outdoor activities.
Activities
The youth exchange will include non-formal and informal learning activities, consisting of workshops, presentations, discussions, games, outdoor activities, role plays, visits, etc. Moreover, the young people will have the opportunity to learn from the practical experience of local initiative, since the days of exchange will coincide with the actions of preparation and citizen participation in the “Assault to the Castle of Vimianzo”, local event of cultural heritage enhancement.
Who are the beneficiaries?
Young people aged between 18 and 25 years old, living in the project participating municipalities.
